Once you’ve found parking in the lot, which is not easy on a nice day, put your walking shoes on and grab a stroller. A good hike is what it takes to get to this playground. But it’s worth the view from McKegney Green and the crisp air off the bay. (Note it can get windy) Before you go, visit the bronze sculpture of Blackie the horse and then consider the bathrooms by the parking lot, since the portable potty near the playground is not always present. You may take the paved bike path to your left or the gravel path along the water to your right. Either way you will pass lawns, a soccer field, and plenty of bikers before you reach the playground. The area is divided into two parts. The toddler area is completely fenced in and offers a bit of shade. There is a wooden sunken ship, a swing set with two toddler swings and a tall wooden tower structure that ends in a plastic slide which deposits kids uncomfortably high up from the ground. The other area is also over sand, with no fencing and has a large swing set with several big kid swings and one that is designed more like chair for the handicapped. The climbing structure has a ramp and horizontal bars for the wheelchair bound. If you continue on the bike path you will arrive in down town Tiburon, but remember to factor in the return time.

This playground is on two levels not visible from one another. It is also partially fenced in so it is wise to visit the park one area at a time. The lower has a swing set with one full bucket toddler and the other a big kid swing which is built over a patch work of rubber matting. Near by are benches and picnic tables. Take the soft dirt path that winds to the top and here you will find a horse shoe court, a checkers table and a big kids’ climbing structure over rubber matting and sand. There are two slides, one that ends quite high off the ground and requires extra supervision. There are many places to climb and hang.

Bonus

Near the Cove Shopping center which has Bell markets, Sweet Things Bakery and Let’s Eat Gourmet Deli.
